Your 3 days Bwindi gorilla tracking Uganda safari starts with an English-speaking driver who doubles as your guide picking you from a suitable location within Kampala. You will then embark on your gorilla trekking Uganda excursion – your memorable safari expedition spent in the primitive African wild.

Your first stop will be at the equator in Kayabwe, about 72km from Kampala city. While at the equator, you will have a chance to see the imaginary line that divides the world into two equal halves. You will then arrive at Buhoma, one of the four main gorilla trekking regions in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, in the early evening.

Day 2Gorilla tracking expedition in Bwindi Forest

The second day of your Bwindi gorilla tracking Uganda safari starts with a very early breakfast before you head out to the park headquarters at around 7:00am. You will be briefed about the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ while on a gorilla trekking excursion.

You will then hit the trails with a team of professional guides and trackers. A typical gorilla trekking excursion lasts between 2 – 8 hours. Hiking through the beaten trails in search of the potent giants is exerting but greatly rewarding.

Once you encounter a gorilla family, you will spend an hour observing its members; how the domineering male silverback (head of the family) displays his authority and ability. Besides the males, you will also see the caring mothers tending to their little ones; feeding some, rubbing a few, carrying others and keeping a watchful eye on those playing in the trees. You will be allowed to take photos of the experience.

Day 3Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Game drive in the park

On the third day of your Uganda gorilla safari ttour, you will have breakfast and then embark on a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will enjoy the splendid countryside beauty; the rugged hills, vast plantations, and occasional sightings of herdsmen grazing their long-horned cattle.

You will arrive at Uganda’s prized Queen Elizabeth National Park in the mid-morning or early afternoon. Before checking in at your lodge, you will embark on your first game drive and the tree climbing lions in Ishasha are must watch.

Day 4Game Drive in the Park and a Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

The fourth day of your gorilla wildlife safari will begin with a game drive at 6:30am after an early breakfast. You will head out to the renowned Kasenyi plains with an experienced game ranger. The plains are a mass of African savannah known for harbouring the largest concentration of game as compared to any other section in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Later in the afternoon, you will set out for a boat cruise on Kazinga channel. You get to sit back and enjoy the sight of elephants, buffalo, bushbucks, kobs and large herds of hippos on the riverbanks. Occasionally, visitors are able to spot leopards, lions and forest hogs. Besides the various mammals, the channel is a habitat for various species of water birds.
