This amazing adventure is tailored for travel between July and September, this safari experience offers you a nice opportunity to encounter Gorillas; the shy yet gentle giants of Bwindi National Park as well as get up close with Masai Mara’s BIG 5, and yes…. The annual wildebeest migration between Serengeti and Masai Mara, a wildlife spectacle that many discerning travelers are seeking to tick off their bucket list. You travel between Bwindi and Masai Mara by flight, with breakfast in Bwindi, and lunch in Masai Mara, saving you several hours in driving time.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Uganda

Your 7 days safari adventure will begin with an experienced driver – guide picking you up upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport. Transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight along the Lake Victoria shores.

Day 2Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest / Fly to Bwindi

Your day will start after an early breakfast and you will embark on your gorilla safari southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable forest. The journey will offer you highway sights of rural and semi-urban Uganda with several fruit & vegetable markets along the roads, craft and drum makers and a stop at Uganda’s Equator monument where you will cross to the southern hemispheres.

After the experience at the Equator, the drive will continue with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch before proceeding to Bwindi with short bathroom stopovers and picture sessions of landscape and other attractions.

Alternatively, you will take a morning flight to Bwindi forest or Mgahinga gorilla national park. You will then be picked up from the airstrip and transferred to your hotel for relaxation in preparation for gorilla trekking. You have an option for an afternoon community experience.

Drive time – 8 hours Or Scheduled Flight – 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Day 3Gorilla tracking expedition in Bwindi Forest

The second day of your Bwindi gorilla tracking Uganda safari starts with a very early breakfast before you head out to the park headquarters at around 7:00am. You will be briefed about the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ while on a gorilla trekking excursion.

You will then hit the trails with a team of professional guides and trackers. A typical gorilla trekking excursion lasts between 2 – 8 hours. Hiking through the beaten trails in search of the potent giants is exerting but greatly rewarding.

Once you encounter a gorilla family, you will spend an hour observing its members; how the domineering male silverback (head of the family) displays his authority and ability. Besides the males, you will also see the caring mothers tending to their little ones; feeding some, rubbing a few, carrying others and keeping a watchful eye on those playing in the trees. You will be allowed to take photos of the experience.

Day 4Bwindi to the Local Airstrip / Entebbe / Masai Mara National Reserve

Breakfast and check out. Morning transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for your scheduled flight departing at 0945 and arriving Entebbe International Airport at around 1125. Connect for flight to Masai Mara arriving at the local airstrip at around 1345 hrs. Met and proceed to your tented camp for lunch. You then enjoy your first game drive in the world famous Masai Mara, the beginning of your up-close encounter with the Big Cats and many other mammal and bird species.

Day 5 - 6Masai Mara

Depending on the Wildlife migration patterns and the weather, Early morning breakfast followed by two full days of unlimited game drives within the reserve. The Masai Mara is famous for its black maned lions and the annual wildebeest migration. This is probably one of Kenya’s most visited reserve with an extraordinary density of animals including the Big five and many other varieties of plains game. The Mara River cuts through the Mara and Serengeti eco systems giving life to the both reserves before finally pouring out into the Lake Victoria.

Impressive and most notable is the wildebeest, zebra and gazelle instinct led migration from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Mara in Kenya. This journey is coupled by numerous obstacles which makes it even more magnificent. You will have a picnic lunch and continue with the game drives arriving at the lodge in the evening for a well-deserved rest and hot relaxing shower.

Day 7Departure

Breakfast. Check out and board your safari converted land cruiser. (Optional flight back to Nairobi available). Drive back to Nairobi with a stop over as you drive up the floor of the great rift valley. Transfer to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on time for your evening / night departure flight, marking the end of a signature safari covering two of East Africa’s leading safari attractions.
