Your 7 days ultimate Uganda Gorilla and wildlife safari is an opportunity to go the “pearl of Africa’s” most celebrated tourist and safari destinations. This safari package is undeniably the ultimate offer for the avid wildlife adventurer and primate lover. You have sights to the Rhino Sanctuary at Ziwa, before heading out to the Murchison Falls, trek the Chimps and the Gorillas in Kibale and Bwindi Forest respectively.

Itinerary

Day 1Travel to Murchison falls – track rhinos en route

Your 7 days safari adventure will begin with an experienced driver – guide picking you from Kampala at 7:30am. After briefing you on how your safari will go, you will embark on your journey to Uganda’s celebrated Murchison Falls National Park.

You will make your first stop at Ziwa rhino sanctuary – the only place in Uganda where rhinos can be observed in their natural habitat. With the aid of park rangers, you will track and encounter the rhinos for an hour before continuing with your journey to Murchison Falls.

Day 2Morning game drive – boat cruise on the Victoria Nile

Your second day in Murchison falls will begin with a game drive at 6:30am, after having your breakfast. Depending on the location of your lodging, you will embark on a game drive in one of the park’s famous game viewing tracks; the Albert track, Buligi track and the Victoria track. You will see various animals including four of the big fives; lions, elephants, leopards, and the cape buffaloes.

After having lunch, you will head out for a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile. The sight and sound of the gushing and rushing waterfalls is soothing and breath-taking. As you sail upstream to the bottom of the falls, you will spot herds of hippos and crocodiles along the river banks. The boat cruise is also the ideal adventure for the avid birder.

Day 3Transfer to Kibale National Park – Explore the Ndali-kasenda crater lakes region

On the third day of your Uganda gorilla tours safari, you will have breakfast and transfer to Kibale National Park at around 8:00am. Once you arrive at the park, you will check in at your choice lodging, have lunch and unwind before heading out to the Ndali – Kasenda crater lakes region.

The region is a mass of lakes formed from ancient volcanic activity dating back to over 1000 years. The region offers you a scenic view of the rolling hills, the rugged landscape and thick greenery covering the surrounding areas.

Day 4Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest – guided nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

Your Kibale National Park chimpanzee trekking tour will begin with an early breakfast before heading out to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing from the park authorities after which you will be allocated a chimp community to track. Chimpanzees live in large communities of about 100 individuals, and a typical tracking experience lasts between 2-6 hours.

You will have the opportunity to watch the chimps go about their daily routine; feeding, patrolling, hunting, copulating, as well as playing and breastfeeding for the little ones. After your chimpanzee tracking experience, you will go for a guided nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary in the late afternoon. The swamp is a habitat to over 200 bird species, and a variety of primate and mammal species.

Day 5Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable via Queen Elizabeth National Park

On the third day of your Uganda gorilla safari tour, you will have breakfast and then embark on a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will enjoy the splendid countryside beauty; the rugged hills, vast plantations, and occasional sightings of herdsmen grazing their long-horned cattle.

On your way to the park you will pass through the Queen Elizabeth Ishasha Plains famously known for the tree-climbing lions, you will then later reach in your lodge and check in.

Day 6Gorilla tracking expedition in Bwindi Forest

The second day of your Bwindi gorilla tracking Uganda safari starts with a very early breakfast before you head out to the park headquarters at around 7:00am. You will be briefed about the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ while on a gorilla trekking excursion.

You will then hit the trails with a team of professional guides and trackers. A typical gorilla trekking excursion lasts between 2 – 8 hours. Hiking through the beaten trails in search of the potent giants is exerting but greatly rewarding.

Once you encounter a gorilla family, you will spend an hour observing its members; how the domineering male silverback (head of the family) displays his authority and ability. Besides the males, you will also see the caring mothers tending to their little ones; feeding some, rubbing a few, carrying others and keeping a watchful eye on those playing in the trees. You will be allowed to take photos of the experience.

Day 7Return to Kampala – end of safari

On the last day of your Uganda Ultimate wildlife and gorilla safari, you will have breakfast and embark on your journey back to Kampala.
